As a photojournalist, I was always interested in the documentation of cultural traditions and unique regional differences.
After returning to graduate school in 2006, I focused on audio, video and new forms of storytelling.
My thesis project was the creation and development of a website about a vanishing cultural tradition called the Jackson Eisteddfod, a historic Welsh singing competition. I felt the documentation and presentation of this tradition was vital for future generations.
After earning a master’s degree in visual communication from Ohio University, I went back for a second master’s degree in geography with a focus on historical research.
I currently live in Norfolk, Virginia, and work on independent projects related to the documentation and preservation of regional traditions and cultures.
